Fees & Funding

Intrinsicare psychological services are reasonably priced to ensure accessibility to all community members and organisations, no matter what socioeconomic class or financial position you are in. In cases of extreme disadvantage and hardship we offer bulk billing/free services. Generally, our fees will vary depending on your individual situation. Therefore, we encourage you to enquire before making a decision to proceed.

Medicare Rebate

Clients who wish to access a Medicare rebate require a referral from their general practitioner (GP), psychiatrist or paediatrician prior to booking with our psychologists. Please contact Intrinsicare before you see your doctor to obtain the name of your psychologist. This will be required for the Mental Health Care Plan that your GP completes for Medicare funding. Once a Mental Health Care Plan is in place, you are entitled to a total of 6 counselling sessions per calendar year, plus another 4 if your GP considers it necessary. Read more information here.

Note: Intrinsicare require all clients to pay for their session at the time of appointment. You will be provided with a receipt to take to Medicare or your private health fund for refund at the end of the session. For employed individuals, Medicare will refund approximately 70% of the total fee paid for the session, and slightly higher for unemployed individuals that can afford a small gap fee for sessions. If you face extreme financial hardship, then Medicare will rebate the entire cost of your session.

Private Health Insurance Rebate

Some Private Health Insurance provides a rebate on psychological services. Please contact your Health Fund Provider to determine the amount of funding allocated on your level of cover.

WorkSafe & The Traffic Accident Commission

Intrinsicare is approved by WorkSafe Victoria to provide psychological services to people with a current WorkCover claim. In order to access these services, you will need to provide us with a:

  • Referral letter from your GP, and
  • Letter of consent from your WorkSafe case manager

 

With these documents, Intrinsicare will invoice the cost of your psychological session to WorkSafe so that you will not incur an out-of-pocket expense.

Other support services

If you are facing extreme financial hardship, you may be eligible to apply for the Access to Allied Psychological Services (ATAPS) Program. Intrinsicare is a registered provider of ATAPS services. Ask your GP for further information during your next appointment.
